Studio Napean opened its doors on the 16th December, 2006. Located in one of Mumbai’s prime residential neighborhoods, Napean Sea Road, it has made art accessible to the community being one of the few art galleries in the area. Measuring over 1,000 square feet, it is located on ground level and its large open windows and bright lights entice art lovers of all ages to come take a closer look within.

The gallery began as a joint venture between art connoisseur Kaveeta Singh and her two daughters, Priya and Nandini Singh. Kaveeta herself has always been closely linked to the Indian art community, promoting art via her foremost love and profession, interior design. She has played an active role in the industry for over three decades now and has served on the board of the Artist’s Centre. Recently, she was also chosen to participate in Khushii’s “India on Canvas”, a major art event for charity (Mumbai, October 2007). Her eldest daughter Priya is also an artist in her own right, choosing the performing arts as her forte; she is a professional Odyssey dancer and has held several performances across Mumbai and abroad. Priya also dabbles in painting in her spare time and has always been strongly inclined towards the arts in general. Kaveeta’s youngest, Nandini, fell in love with the gallery from its day of inception. Freshly graduated from the University of Michigan, she was quick to take up the opportunity to come help with the launch of the gallery. Deciding to stay on, Nandini took up the post of running and managing the gallery, and with the advice and guidance of her mother, has committed herself to making the gallery a success and playing an important role in India’s flourishing art market.
