Chandra Bhattacharjee (B.1961)

Chandra graduated from Indian College of Art and Draughtsmanship and also took a course in Art Appreciation from Calcutta University.
To portray the people with dreams and possessions he uses a similar technique used by Suhas Roy and Sunil Das. The emotions are either symbolized or are suggested through layers of paints.
Portrayal of human emotions is his forte and usually the paintings in acrylics depict the single figure or the face often seen brooding over the past or have a look of hope and these emotions are supported with falling leaves or a flowery tendril with a earthy backdrop. The rendering is subtle and unique.

He has presented three solo and participated in numerous group shows.
Chandra is awarded by the Lalit Kala Akademi in 1992. India Habitat Centre, Delhi, The Palette Art Gallery and other prestigious art centers have exhibited his works.
He works as a senior design officer with Economic Times, Kolkata.
