Senior artist Sanjay Ashtaputre of Hyderabad has been painting for over the last three decades. An alumni of the G.D. Govt. school of Art, Aurangabad, Ashtaputre dabbles in charcoal drawings, acrylic on canvas, murals, sculptures and is even a talented sitar player. He has racked up awards over the years in recognition for his work and has held numerous exhibitions across the country. Ashtaputre creates beautiful subdued figures in charcoal on paper and acrylic on canvas; his figures have always been very fluid and he focuses on movement and the human body.
“Sanjay’s charcoal drawings celebrate the beauty of rhythmic human body. If nudity is considered an absolute truth, then Sanjay seems to pursue the centuries old human quest for beauty of human body” ~ Ganesh Visputay, Poet & Painter, Pune, 2007.
