Sanjoy Majumder’s journey as an artist began in the laboratories of the Birla Institute of Liberal Arts and Management Sciences (BILAMS) where he was studying to get a degree in microbiology. Fascinated by the intricacies of life and death and regeneration, Majumder took his education in the sciences and applied it to his understanding of the universe and life. Coupling this with his knowledge of Indian mythology and spirituality, Majumder sought to express his musings in a creative form, to which he turned to the canvas. He trained under guru late Mihir Majumder and Ashok Banerjee, and also attended several workshops to nurture his inclination towards the arts. He has had a string of solo and group exhibitions across the country where his work has been received well and his works are a part of many private collections in India as well as abroad.
