B Vithal was born in Vardha, Maharashtra. He studied at the Sir J.J. school of Art in Mumbai. It is here that he met his artist wife, B. Prabha.
He is perhaps best known for his many sculptural works, bulls and Ganesha being a few of his many subjects. He did however also paint, very often on large canvases and often portrayed horses, nudes, musicians and the people of Maharashtra. He had a deep understanding of the human form, this being a reflection of his education, as the Sir J.J. School of Art was known for placing an emphasis on understanding the human body.
B Vithal lived and worked in Mumbai. He passed away in 1992.
