Om Swami (B.1974)

Though self taught, Swami’s works show a lot of maturity, discipline and understanding, by means of lines, colours and theme. His paintings depict the pure joy of unity and harmony between two opposites, the male and the female. They are the protagonists even in unison, sharing and caring, ready and eager with unlimited patience to ‘listen’ to the music of the soul. And there lies the beauty of his paintings, because the duality is merged, although the bodies are seen as separate figures – the absence of eyes, coupled with slightly elongated face lit with tiny lips, suggest the two souls are deeply absorbed in each others' company or they are drawn in ecstasy of the pure joy of togetherness. Symbols like a crescent moon, a ladder that joins two clouds floating into the vast universe, or a single long flute held by a man and woman, are subtle elements yet significant enough to establish the artist’s faith in absolute harmony between a couple.
His current works show the artist evolving and maturing, as he departs from his lovers canvas and treads down an even more spiritual path, taking on the Buddha as his source of inspiration.
Swami has held over four solo exhibitions in Mumbai and participated in various group shows across India, his works have even been picked up by art lovers in Singapore, Dubai, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the U.S. The artist works and resides in Thane, Mumbai.
