Rohini was born to artist parents in Surat, Gujurat.Her father Narottam Luhar is a noted sculptor. She received her diploma in sculpture in 1988, from the C.N. College of Fine Arts in Ahmedabad. In the same year she received an award from the Hyderabad Art Society in acknowledgment of her work. Encouraged by this, she joined the M.S. University of Baroda to further her education in sculpture, and received her Post-Diploma from the University in 1990. Rohini has since gone on to participate in various group shows and camps across India, and was accredited with the prestigious AIFACS (H.C.C.) State in 2002, and AIFACS, New Delhi, in 2004. She has been picked up by galleries across India such as Shrishti Art Gallery (2007), Minaz Art Gallery (2004), and Kalakriti Art Gallery (2003) of Hyderabad; The Gallery Mumbai (2002); and Pegasus Art Gallery, Calcutta (2004).
Rohini’s works are devoted to the feminine mystique and a woman’s relationship to the natural world. The artist is particularly interested in the expressive quality of a woman’s eyes - that just by looking into them deeply, how much they can reveal about her psyche and how much they in turn can communicate to the viewer without the need of the spoken word. She also shows a keen interest towards world architecture and the heritage of all cultures. She has also dabbled with mediums like terracotta and fiber-glass. Rohini resides in Hyderabad with her husband, Srinivas Reddy B., also an artist and admired sculptor.
