Farhad Hussain is from the village of Gobardanga, near Kolkata. A graduate from Santiniketan, he completed his postgraduate diploma from the Faculty of Fine Arts, from the M.S. University of Baroda in 2005.
Drawing inspiration from human realtionships, Farhad depicts his subjects in vibrant colours, each figure having a relation with another. His paintings are provocative, often filled with humor and sarcasm. His bright colours and bold figures certainly are his trade mark, along with the fine detailing in his backdrops.
In 2004,he received the Nasreen Mohamed scholarship.
He has participated in several shows in New Delhi, Baroda, Mumbai and Kolkata. He lives and works in Delhi.
